It all started with a trip to Sicily. We arrived in Palarmo and the
adventure began. Far from us to have a travel guide, no, we can do this on our own. With limited knowledge of the language , dictionary in hand, we began by renting a car, a very small car, one of their largest. Off we went with a road map we had highlighted. Our destination was the town of Arigento, where we would spend our first three days. Lost and confused in the center of town, we asked directions from the gentleman at a newstand. I showed him the name and address of the B & B we had booked, everyone knows everyone. He called the innkeeper who told us to stay put until he arrived and guided us to the front door. The people were wonderful! We stayed three days in that beautiful seaside town and saw the most outstanding Greek and Roman ruins. These are some of the finest in the world. The sightseeing was fabulous, but we also planned to have a luxurious gastronomical trip as well, and we did. No matter where or what we ate, the food was extraordinary.

Our next stop was the hilly countryside of Ragusa, mind you I said hilly,
until we took a wrong turn. I had printed out directions from my computer, but eventually the page had cut off a few vital turns. We wound up high in the mountains, a ski resort. Very carefully making our way back down to the small town we had missed and found the Villa Zottopera.

The Villa with it's centuries old olive groves was manificent, and to our
delight it was harvest time. We watched as the men gathered the olives and allowed us to take pictures of their labor of love.
